Lauren's Story
Lauren Murray is still life oil painter based in the Southern Highlands of NSW, Australia. Her practice explores the meaning we convey to everyday objects. The emotions and memories evoked by seeing differently the items and elements of our life, through the eyes of a feminine aesthetic. I love the juxiposistion of objects and colour that surprises and cause us to see everyday items differently and encourage us to explore what is important to us.
her practice began in earnest in 2016 with drawing and pastels and acrylics, and then developed a passion for oils.
Lauren was a finalist in The Agency Still Life Competition Bowral District Art Society. Her work is held in private collections.

Lauren's Story
Inspired by the beauty of everyday objects and the bounty of flowers, Lauren's still life paintings tell a story, invoke a memory or create a feeling.
The contrast of the structure and formal shapes of vessels with the softness and aliveness of flowers and plants creates a delightful juxtaposition. She uses a loose realism style with a contemporary colour palette.
Lauren's work is mainly oil on canvas or board, small to medium in size and will enhance your home.

Lauren's paintings incorporate the beauty of everyday items and fresh produce or plants.
"My work also explores items of interest to women. Kitchen items, napery, children's toys, a posy of flowers. Whilst of course not exclusively women's items, typically they are the domain of the house, the domestic , a feminine aesthetic."
She brings a love of vintage and the whimsical to her work. having picked up beautiful things from family and travel.
Her work also reflects a respect for edible produce having grown my own food on a 5 acre farm in the beautiful Kangaroo Valley.
